CPSC, Kolcraft Announce Recall of LiteSport Strollers

The hazard

Lock mechanisms, found on both sides of the stroller, can break and cause the stroller to suddenly collapse. When the strollers collapse, babies can fall and suffer injuries.

Incidents reported: Kolcraft has received 124 reports of the lock mechanisms breaking, including 31 reports of the stroller collapsing. There were 22 reports of injuries, including abrasions, cuts and bruises to children's faces, arms, hands and legs.

What to do now

Consumers should stop using the strollers immediately and call Kolcraft to receive a free repair kit.

About this recall

The recall includes only the Kolcraft LiteSport strollers, model number 36122. A label with the word "LiteSport" can be found on the front of the footrest. The model number can be found on a label on the back leg frame of the stroller. These strollers were manufactured from December 1997 through December 1999. The manufacture date is below the model number on the back leg frame label. "Kolcraft" is written on the front of the stroller.
