The hazard

An electric heating element inside the system, that is used primarily in the dehumidification process, can short circuit and produce sparks, posing a smoke and fire risk.

Incidents reported: No injuries have been reported.

What to do now

For more information about the recall, contact Liebert Corp. for instructions on disconnecting the reheat assembly. Liebert Corp. will install and replace the heating element. Liebert Corp. sent recall notices to known purchasers.

About this recall

The environmental control units are used as a cooling system in computer rooms. The recalled units are 277 volts and 1.5, 2 and 3 tons with electric reheat. The units are mounted in the ceiling and use ducts or special distribution grills to distribute the air.
