WindowTex Recalls Custom Roller Shades Due to Risk of Injury

The hazard

A steel pin inserted into the idler on the shades can become dislodged and cause the shade to fall from the mounting bracket, posing a risk of injury from impact to the consumer.

Incidents reported: WindowTex has received six reports of steel pins becoming dislodged from the window shade idler, causing some of the shades to fall. No injuries have been reported.

Repair

Consumers with the recalled window shades should immediately contact the place of purchase for instructions on how to schedule a service call for free replacement idlers. Consumers can also contact WindowTex for help identifying their authorized dealer. Authorized dealers are contacting all known purchasers.

About this recall

This recall involves WindowTex custom-made fabric roller window shades that are raised and lowered by a side-mounted chain. The recalled shades have an idler with steel pin inserted into one end of the roller tube. The steel pin is used to connect the window shade to the metal mounting bracket. Roller shades included in this recall have idlers with model number D15T, used with a 1½-inch roller tube, and model number D20T, used with a 2-inch roller tube.
